Meditation Mondays

Lama Targye presents classic Buddhist teachings for the moden world.

About Lama Targye

In 1984, Lama Targyé met Guendune Rinpoche at the center of Dhagpo Kagyu Ling at the age of 19. He followed his teachings and practiced meditation with discipline while at the same time studying at the decorative arts in Paris.

After obtaining his diploma, he entered a three year, three month retreat in Kundreul Ling in Auvergne where he was guided by his master Guendune Rinpoche. He returned to the world 6 and a half years later.

He then stayed at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling and began his activity as a Lama. Later he went to Delhi to study the philosophical program at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute. He extended his stay for two more years in Kathmandu where he studied the Tibetan spoken language.

After that, Lama Targyé contiuned to stay in Kathmandu for another 8 years to work as an assistant architect on several projects initiated by Karmapa and Shamarpa including Sharminub.

Since then, he has continued teaching in France and Germany, as part of the Kundreul Ling congregation.

Meditations on Karma

Every Monday @ 6PM Paris Time, Nov 16 - Dec 21, 2020

With the positive feedback we’ve received from Lama Targye’s teachings earlier this year, he has proposed a new and slightly more defined series on applying classic Buddhist wisdom to our modern day lives.

Lama Targye has proposed to give a series on karma as related to classic texts. The series would take place over 6 weeks where we would meet once a week, similar to before. The topics will cover the following aspects:

  • The inter dependency of phenomena (the first two noble truths)
  • Cause and effect (Rice Sutra)
  • The process of rebirth (Gampopa)
  • Questions and answers (prepared by the students in advance)

The general format for the teachings would be a short meditation (10mins) followed by teachings and then another short meditation. Like last time, we will try to keep the sessions at one hour each.

May all sentient beings gain happiness and the cause of happiness.
May they be free from suffering and the cause of suffering.
May they never be cut off from the highest bliss, which is devoid of suffering.
May they come to rest in the great impartiality, which is free of attachment and aversion.

Dedication Prayer for closing

GE WA DI YI KYE WO KÜN

Through this virtue, may all beings
gather the accumulation of merit and wisdom.
May they attain the two supreme kayas
arising from merit and wisdom.

and all the bodhisattvas—that I may follow in their path,
I completely dedicate all this virtue.
